The Challenge
When ULOK opened their second internal self-storage facility in Lancashire, they quickly completed a full refurbishment and launched 75 new units. Demand was immediate — larger units filled up within weeks, and enquiries kept coming in, forcing the team to start a waiting list.
Behind the facility sat a 6,200 sqft plot of land. Initially, this space was used as 20 parking bays. But with demand rising and the site surrounded by residential properties, bringing in traditional shipping containers was logistically impossible. ULOK needed a smarter solution to make the land work harder.
The The Solution
That’s when ULOK partnered with Steel & Storage. After a detailed consultation and site visit, our Advice Team demonstrated that the rear plot was perfectly suited to our flat pack external self-storage units.
Unlike shipping containers, our modular units can be easily carried onto restricted sites, assembled in position, and tailored to the available space — making them the ideal solution for ULOK’s landlocked plot.
Implementation
